GB Lobster
Restaurant Rebranding
I had the unique opportunity to work in a team to create marketing materials for a new Savannah, GA restaurant 'GB Lobster'. We met with our client Anthony, the restaurant owner and Ghost Buster his poodle, who is the restaurant mascot, several times throughout our process. During our meetings, we closely monitored our timeline, to ensure that we were on track and exceeding his expectations with our designs.
At first, my partner and I worked separately, but together to design two distinct branding options for Anthony. When we presented our work to the owner, he chose to move forward with my design concept. With my design concept in mind, my partner and I collaborated to create a cohesive branded environment for our client. We built an identity program, application materials, and a new interior branded restaurant environment for 'GB Lobster'.
The Branding
Anthony is a veteran who served sweet freedom for our country and now he is serving delicious lobster rolls to Savannah. The color pallet is patriotic and nautical in honor of Anthony’s story. While meeting with him, I caught onto his favorite catch phrase, “right on”, and incorporated it into my designs. Ghost Buster the poodle and GB Lobster’s mascot is also an important design element throughout the branding. Whimsical details can be found throughout, such as the to-go bags that resemble someone “walking” Ghost Buster the poodle or holding onto a lobster’s claw.
The GB Lobster logo was inspired by the restaurant’s infamous lobster rolls. This restaurant is the place where people can go and enjoy a laid back atmosphere, and have a relaxed chat with their friends. The lobster lays within the G and B, similarly to how the delicious lobster lays within the roll. Also, the lobster seeming to hang and be connected with the letters highlights the fact that the restaurant is a place where people can go, hangout with their buddies and connect with others.
